Biscoot
18 year old Em goes on a journey, along with a tin of biscuits from her grandmother. On this journey of life, people enter and exit, and she keeps eating and sharing her grandmother’s biscuits.
When she comes down to her last biscuit after many years, a big choice faces her: eat it and enjoy it as her grandmother had meant for her, or save it as a final link to her home.
What will she do?

Born in Calcutta in 1997, Kaushani Majumder's love for art and film led her to major in animation at MITID, Pune. Her directorial debut came with her student film, Forever Yours, Bansho (2018), an animated short which screened at multiple festivals around the world.
She went on to get her MA in Animation from the Royal College of Art, where she directed and animated her new short film, Biscoot (2023).
Kaushani creates animated films and stories driven by vivid colours, everyday human life and nature. Through her work, Kaushani aims to use an ambiguity of gender and identity, and at the core of her practice is a deep appreciation and celebration of the mundane.
I made Biscoot as a way of comprehending the internal conflict between exploring the world and leaving one's home behind in the process. Using colours and letterboxing as narrative devices, I intend to portray the transformative journey of a person into unfamiliar waters, and how this moulds their changing identity.
