Director Biography - Kristina Khegay

Kristina spent the greater part of her life in St.Petersburg, where after finishing school she entered The St.Petersburg State Institute of Culture, Documentary Film Department. This is when her path as a documentary filmmaker began. After moving to Moscow Kristina continued her studies at the Institute of Film and Television SITR, and in January 2024 she graduated with honours.
As a graduation thesis Kristina made a film-essay "Birth of a person" in Abzhazia, where her relatives live. This film is about the author's deep feelings and her view on the present-day problems of mankind.
Besides her graduation film Kristina shot 57 episodes of the historical travel project "One-storey Russia", visiting more than 100 cities. She also participated in making advertisements and music clips She also worked as a director of photography on the film "Until someone loses" (directed by Ivan Kozhevnikov), which won an award at VALÈIFF • València Indie Film Festival in 2021.
In the future Kristina is going to work on documentaries and actively take part in film festivals.
