Director Statement

This experimental documentary blends a birthday video recorded on an old VHS tape with four different narratives based on crucial moments in a young woman's life.

The director, while watching a birthday video, realizes a little girl, Burcu, glowing at a hidden corner in every scene, although the birthday is not hers. After selecting certain moments from the video and coming up with keywords (brother, mother, father, boyfriend), the director makes interviews with Burcu and they together write stories based on the interviews. The stories are edited and a narrative is formed out of both writers’ lives in the process led by these two creators.

Along with the blurriness of old videos, we wished to set out for hidden spots on memory. We have discovered the moments which let the person be born again lies behind the doors of ordinary stories.
