With themes of isolation, rehabilitation and complicated relationships, this project started off as two creatives who wanted to tell a story without deadlines, guidelines or client feedback. Charles and Lewis explored a few potential directions, but after taking a liking to the cockney phrase ‘Birdlime’, meaning ‘hard time’, they settled on exploring the immediate aftermath of someone being released from prison. They soon bought a third mate and creative, Simeon, who helped to write and expand the story with plot and characters.
Across two years and the Covid pandemic, Birdlime was written, produced, shot and edited without any external funding, just with help of a cast and crew who were sold on the idea and wanted to bring it to life.
