Kilian Brons, a 21 years old Dutch writer & director, grew up in the province of Gelderland. From the age of 12 he knew for sure, he wanted to become a filmmaker, so he made his first 30-minute short film 'Otto' during his studies at the Graphic Lyceum Utrecht at the age of 17, in which several famous Dutch actors played and he also won several prizes with ‘Otto’. ‘The Woman In The Red Coat’ followed as the 2nd short film that he wrote and directed. At the age of 19 he did an internship with Joost van Hezik and after that with Jamille van Wijngaarden, 2 great and well-known directors in the Netherlands. Kilian works from the age of 19 on several major TV serie and film sets as a script supervisor and is very involved in the directing department. Now in 2023, his 3rd short film 'Birdhouse' has been released in multiple cinemas throughout the Netherlands as pre screening. Kilian's ambitions are far from being fulfilled, the next step in his career has already been taken, because he will make his new upcoming short film in collaboration with a large Dutch production company.
Many (young) people suffer from mental problems, including depression. I notice that at the same time there is a taboo among this group, with this short film I want to break that taboo or at least create a soulmate for people who struggle with depression so they feel heard through this film. But also to make it more understandable for those who don’t have to deal with these problems. I hope to convey a heavy subject to a diverse audience in a light and fun way.
