Birdcage

Damian waits on his partner Lauren to appear from the bathroom. As the wait goes on and patience wears thin it quickly becomes clear why she put herself there in the first place.

We open on a small, inner-city garden where Damian puffs on a cigarette calming his nerves. He returns inside to use the bathroom and it's locked with no signs of life from the inside. He makes himself comfortable outside the door recollecting on past memories. The lack of response coupled with the suffocating noise of the neighbour's loud music, bleeping smoke detector and crying baby push Damian over the edge.

Lauren eventually appears from the bathroom to comfort her crying child. The bruises to her face, a clear result of Damian's abusive nature.
