Bill Muench has been an unstoppable force at Burr and Burton Academy for over 32 years! With boundless energy and a passion for teaching, he has brought subjects like English, AP Psychology, Space and Time, Cinematography, and Broadcast Journalism to life for his students.
Bill's impressive academic journey began with a BA in Psychology from SUNY Potsdam, where he also pursued a minor in Japanese at Kansai Gaidai, followed by an MA in Education from MCLA. But his influence extends far beyond the classroom! He’s not only a basketball coach but also an adjunct professor at Castleton College. He directs both the BBA Cinema Camp and the Bill Muench Basketball Camp, and somehow still finds time to rock out with his popular local band, DON'T LEAVE.
As a Jet Propulsion Laboratory Vermont Solar System Ambassador, Bill’s accomplishments are vast and varied. He was the Rowland Faculty Chair Recipient in 2015-16, the 2016 BE BRAVE FOR LIFE award winner, Pioneer Valley Teacher of the Year in 2011, and a recipient of both the Bigelow Grant and Ormsby Grant in 2011 and 2009, respectively. The BBA Yearbook was dedicated to him in 2005, and he was chosen as the BBA Faculty Commencement Speaker in 2009. In 2006, he was honored as the Coca-Cola Vermont Educator of Distinction, and in 2002, he was the commencement speaker at Mass. College of Liberal Arts.
Bill's personal life is just as fulfilling—he’s married to Barbara Muench, a Special Educator at BBA, and they are proud parents to BBA alumni Weston and Taylor.
Currently, Bill is currently traveling with his award winning documentary The Artist & the Astronaut.
