Big Blue Sea
A whimsical tale of a young autistic woman kayaking in Hong Kong water in search of perfect blue water for her clownfish.
The 8 years old autistic Ching is abandoned by her mother to her grandpa living in Hong Kong. On her birthday, grandpa gives Ching a clownfish to distract her fixation on circles and math.
Ching names it Fish. From then on, Fish becomes her only friend. She takes it with her everywhere she goes. Ching makes a vow that she will take Fish home once she learns how to swim.
The now 23 years old Ching works in office. One day she reads from news that an adventurer named Mark is searching for the bluest water called the Big Blue, perfect for clownfish and his search has now reached Hong Kong.
She donates all her saving to his cause in exchange for Mark helping her to release Fish to the Big Blue. but in a fiery typhoon Mark is gone. Out of money, nevertheless she decides to quit her job and tries to find the Big Blue herself.
Despite dangers from nature and men she has encountered, Ching is able to unlock the secret of the Big Blue.
However, a rogue wave hits her, just before her returning her Fish back to home. Her journey and her life now hang in the balance. This is a story of loyalty, adventure and friendship.

Dear Madam/sir,
If you like woman-empowerment adventure films like Tracks and Wild, you will find this resonating.
This film is about the extraordinary journey of an autistic girl. It is a quintessential women's film. All leading actors are women and half the crew are women as well, rarely an Asian project that can pass both the Bechdel test and "Mako Mori test".
It is also a rare underwater drama for Asia. It is a film about the environment and women as well. Our crew consists of
mainly students and fresh graduates.
The film is sponsored by Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
Thank you very much.
Best,
Maya Wong, KF Yuen
