What flourished as a tradition and an art form for 200 years, is now facing a crisis. The average age of a Jammakkalam weaver is over 50 years, making the future of this craft a big question mark. This film is to throw light on the current status of this art and its artisans.

Dileep Rangan is a beginner when it comes to Non-Fiction Filmmaking.. He started his storytelling journey as theatre practitioner for the last 14 years and has always been interested in finding an unique voice in storytelling. He is also trainer in communication and theatre. He has trained over 8000 people and about 5000 children. His journey in filmmaking has just begun, he is looking to make more stories focusing on Change Making, Social Impact and Sustainability.
Jammakkalam talks about the plight of the modern day weavers and the difficulties that has risen in the moment, the urgency to look upon the issue and the need for a sustainable solution in order to save the tradition as well the lives creating it.
