Rebecca Kirsh, a filmmaker based in North Carolina, has been passionate about making movies since a young age. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Film and Video Production from UNC Greensboro and has written, directed, filmed, and edited her own short films in addition to corporate videos for clients. Most notably, she has worked for Movie Makers (featured on "Kate Plus 8") in Durham, NC, was a video intern for MMi Public Relations in Cary, NC and worked on the crew for the reality TV shows "The X Factor" and "America's Got Talent." Rebecca has also assisted on feature films including "Athena: The Goddess of War" (Maiden Comic Studios) and "Southland of the Heart" (Tinkham Town Productions). Rebecca landed her first full-time job at All Pro Media in Burlington, NC, where she edited TV commercials. Currently, she works at Camco RV as videographer and editor for web commercials. Rebecca is most proud of her film "Beyond the Wall," which she wrote, directed, produced, and edited.
I find that the strongest stories come from the heart of the writer. When my producer Todd Tinkham approached me about creating a short film, I asked myself "what story do I most want to tell?" Being a Jew, the Holocaust has always been the most interesting part of history to me, and I have always been fascinated by Anne Frank, in particular. Having read her diary multiple times, and having played her in "The Diary of Anne Frank," I knew that I needed to tell a story of my own about her. I was aware that there are people out there that still believe that the Holocaust never happened, and I thought "what if I create a character (Mary) who doesn't know what the Holocaust is (due to her 'denier' parents) and how would she react to Anne Frank's story?" I then figured out a way to make Mary see for herself the horrors of the Holocaust. I knew it would be a challenging project to take on, but I got a stellar cast and crew together, and we all made it happen. I hope for "Beyond the Wall" to raise more awareness of the Holocaust and have a great future in the film circuit.
