Margarete Jesus is a bachelor of arts with qualification in cinema and audiovisual, bachelor in social communication and certified in executive production, CEO of Copa Amarela Filmes, an independent production company based in Salvador, established with the aim of producing audiovisual content centered on identity affirmation, racial issues, belonging and cultural diversity.
As a filmmaker, I have always endeavored to explore authentic stories that enrich the cultural fabric of Brazil. "Beyond the Fence" is a genuine expression of this commitment, delving into the 1990s in the interior of Bahia, following the family of Anastácia as they seek ownership of the estate, which, by law, belongs to them but requires an imminent change to secure the coveted land deed.
The film captures the essence of rural life, highlighting the complexities of family relationships and the struggle for ownership of something as fundamental as the land we call home.
"Beyond the Fence" is not merely a narrative about property; it is a reflection on identity, belonging, and resistance. Set against the backdrop of the Bahia countryside, the film explores the emotional nuances of its characters, creating an immersive cinematic experience filled with authenticity.
Sharing this work means presenting more than just a local story; it is a universal reflection of the struggles we face in seeking our own places in the world.
