I am a social worker, research, academic, writer, & visual artist who is passionate about co-creating stories about issues that matter.
Over the last decade, I have been working closely with marginalized older adults including individuals experiencing homelessness. I have a BA (Psych), BSW, MSW, and PhD; I currently work at the University of Calgary as an Assistant Professor in Social Work. My research focuses on the interrelated themes of home, belonging, & community. I have received national funding for arts-inspired research, published in journals, books, & on-line. I am currently leading a community-based research project focusing on diversity, housing, & older homelessness in Calgary. My goal is to continue providing a voice to marginalized communities & engaging with audiences outside academia through creative methods including photography, film & hopefully an Immersive 360 VR project!
