Beyond Bravery
Every year in the United States, more first responders die from suicide than in the line-of-duty. "Beyond Bravery" looks at what firefighters and EMS personnel do to deal with the tragedies they see on a daily basis.
Completed as part of the Documentary Filmmaking course at Colorado State University, under the guidance of professor and Emmy-Award winning filmmaker Jaime Jacobsen, Beyond Bravery explores the issue of mental health among first responders as they grapple with the weight of their careers.
Beyond Bravery was honored in February 2020 with an Award of Excellence for Student Short-Form Documentary from the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts.
