Director Statement

I wanted to make something with a theme that mattered. I think body image and self confidence among girls today is such a big issue (especially with social media becoming more and more present in our everyday lives) and one that is not talked about nearly enough. I think that all too often girls give in to social pressure and change themselves into something that they're not in order to fit in, even though their old selves were beautiful just the way they were. In my film, after the main character wishes to be more like the girls around her, her wish is granted, although probably not in the way she imagined. It ends with her "better half" killing the old version of herself in order to achieve this perfect image.

Girls are beautiful and creative and talented, even when they don't fit the beauty standard or have a cookie-cutter life. I hope girls start to realize this and stay true themselves. Lift each other up!
