Welcome to the BEST OF BREED 2016 SHORT FILM CONTEST!

BEST OF BREED is a competition for your short film to take part in worldwide distribution.

BEST OF BREED Vol. 2 will be a compilation of the best short films selected by industry filmmakers, Chuck Griffith & Lou Peterson.

BEST OF BREED is a way to leverage a portfolio of short films together in promoting your fellow filmmakers. 5-6 short films will be selected, promoted at a LOS ANGELES screening party with industry executives in attendance.

So submit your short film now to be considered and get a chance to get your film promoted and distributed by a reputable production team.

THE VENUE:
Come have cocktails at the industry event in December above Hollywood Blvd! We invite 300+ agents, managers, and other filmmakers to share the stunning views at Hollywood and Vine's Penthouse Loft Space. Here, winners will present screen their work for industry executives, producers, and peers followed by a Q&A...all in one night.

Awards & Prizes

We will select five to six short films to be a part of the BEST OF BREED compilation; this includes:

1) $1500 payment for each selected film for NON-exclusive worldwide distribution rights
2) We screen the winners on December 1, 2016 at an industry event with a full on premiere party in Los Angeles. As with the last premiere of Best of Breed, Volume 1, we had reviewers, agents, managers, producers, and more at this event.
3) Placement into the BLU-RAY DVD compilation AND online distribution to iTunes, Netflix, Amazon, and more.
4) VIP passes to the industry screening party in Los Angeles for you and up to 5 people
5) Economy Class Airfare to Los Angeles provided for the screening debut industry party (or hotel accomodations if within a 100 mile radius from the venue).
6) Paid publicity
7) Paid Marketing and Advertising costs
8) Submissions to reputable reviewers
9) You WILL NOT BE SOLICITED for any fees or additional monies with exception to the one-time submission fee.

Rules & Terms

First, the brand of BEST OF BREED is just that: the best. Our criteria for full consideration:

1) Your short film MUST have been completed AFTER 12/31/2014
2) Your short film MUST have screened at least three (3) festivals; OR SCREENED AT CANNES SHORT FILM CORNER in 2015 or 2016
3) Your short film MUST be in English
4) Your short film MUST be completed with its festival run BY December 1, 2016 (end of this year)
5) Your short film IS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC YET ON ANY PLATFORM
6) Your short film is NOT LONGER than twenty (20) minutes

When it comes to GENRE, we don't follow any set of strict rules. Send your PASSWORD PROTECTED youtube/vimeo link of your short film. Fine print points:

1) All short films must have subtitles in English *(only if the film's original language isn't English)

2) Short films submitted should not exceed the time limit - 20 minutes (including opening and end credits)

3) After a film has been selected and the filmmaker is notified, the film will be listed on the festival web site under official selections for lifetime. Irrespective of whether it wins any awards or not.

4) The core criterion which we use to select a short film solely depends on its story.
