Afya Bora Health Journal
Our Health Journal confirmed something interesting! Primary Healthcare is equally the duty of each individual. It is not always about the government. It is also about the community taking initiative. Anne Wanjiko is an adult female residing in Kamkunji. A slum located three kilometers West of Eldoret town.
She is a mother of two, single and unable to attend her needs following a medical condition.
She was diagnosed two years ago during her last child bearing episode to be having Paraplegia which is the inability to use lower limbs. This is because of a growth in her spine at the level of her chest.
Anne who is the sole bread winner of her family is unable to provide for them currently and living on handouts from well wishers now that she has been bed ridden for two years.
Due to this condition she has also been unable to access proper medical care now that her immobility requires supportive care and clinical care which she cannot afford as she is out of work.
Basically what we know is; Anne’s condition can be resolved by surgery and considerable supportive care.
In this story Wanjiko meets Dr. Florentius Koech for the very first time at Tophill Brain and Spine Hospital Eldoret.
Having been away from medical care for a while find out what the doctor’s take is and what is next for Wanjiko.
