My intrigue with the performing arts encompasses all aspects of filmmaking, from reading the original screenplay to viewing the final cut. As a founder of Lotus Production House, I have had the opportunity to hone my skills as a Producer. Leaving a career in business to focus on life in filmmaking, the role of Producer is a natural transition. Applying my business insight to a film is challenging throughout the production, but it is equally rewarding upon the completion of the project.
I have studied acting, became qualified in Casting, was a Finalist in Queensland Training Awards 2017, as well as serving as Justice of the Peace for the State of Queensland. I am currently studying Master of Creative Film Industries at SAE Qantam Creative Media Institute. A role that ties all my experiences together from the business world to an on-camera performer to a Casting Director to a Justice of the Peace is the title of Producer.
It is the Producer who is charged with finding the script that screams out to be made into a movie. It is the Producer who must figure out the economics, envision the scenery, the characters, as well as the texture and techniques that will be used to tell the story. It is the Producer who chooses the Director, the Casting Professional, the Crew, the locations and the budget.
As a Producer, I draw satisfaction from the hunt for the story, the script that must be made into a movie because it is a story that needs to be told. As a Producer, I can call upon all my experiences as a business person, an actress, a casting director, a student and lover of the art of film.
My role as a Producer is one of the most challenging; it is however also one of the most rewarding. Seeing the completion of a film that I envisioned as I read a script for the first time is one of the most exciting fulfilling aspects of filmmaking.
As a founder of Lotus Production House, I am fortunate enough to read scripts from rising talent. As I read these screenplays, I am looking for that script that has a story that absolutely must be turned into a film. I believe that the many paths that my career has led me down have ultimately prepared me to be a Producer that is able to envision the entire film project as well as provided me with the tools to see it through to completion on the screen.
Although I am excited to work in all aspects of filmmaking, there is something that is extra rewarding about being the Producer because it is a role that ties all the skills of my life together
