Berlin Liberi Film Festival is a two day event the third weekend of December with one purpose only - to showcase and promote true independent films in Berlin!
The Festival takes place at Kino Moviemento, the oldest Cinema in Germany, founded 1907 located in Kreuzberg in the middle of Berlin.
Most films are no-budget but some films are with a bigger production level. We strive to celebrate and promote personal film making regardless of which shape and form it comes in. Experimental, Independent and Obscure films are in the very root of the festival, but the root itself is the personal expression, the free voice.
So far we have screened films from more than 50 different countries such as Brazil, Iran, USA, Russia, Sweden, Lebanon, Tunisia and of course Germany to name a few.
We work to provide a friendly atmosphere and weekend where film makers, organizations, enthusiasts and audience can meet and spend quality time together while watching some real independent films.
A very important factor for us is therefore that we pay for accomodation for all invited film makers and organizations to encourage and support their travel to Berlin for the Festival.
We offer accreditation to both Commercial and Non Profit Organizations such as NGO's, Film Clubs, Production Companies, Agencies etc that have Independent Film as interest. If you represent an Organization of this kind please contact us for more information.
- The Festival will Award a Grand Prix as well as best film in each category.
- All selected Film makers receives Accomodation in Berlin for the Festival weekend courtesy of the Festival.
- All selected films are invited to Illambra. It is a curated streamingsite for Independent, Obscure and Experimental films using a straight and fair 50/50 revenue model with film makers, founded as a separete company by us who organize Berlin Liberi to extend the range alternative cinema provides to an online platform.
