Benjamin Rost studied directing film at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and graduated 2020. Before he studied Philosophy in Munich. His films were screened at various international festivals like Dok Leipzig, Dok.Fest München, Camerimage and many more. He is part of the scholarship program of the ‘Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes’ as well as the ‘Young Art and New Paths’ scholarship from the State of Bavaria 2022. Between 2017 and 2019 he lived in Rwanda and South Africa to support the launch of the Youth Television Channel „Iwacu“ for the German Development Organisation (GIZ) and to shoot his graduation film ‘A Portrait on the Search for Happiness’ supported by SWR and MfG, which is now available on Amazon Prime. With his Debutfilm ‘#Harraga’ he participated at Documentary Campus. He ist also member of the Arab Cultures and Arts Network ACAN. Furthermore he gave workshops for the Goethe Institute, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, FreeSZFE Budapest among others. He also created two Mentoring Programs e.g. in collaboration with the Goethe Institute called ‚Pitch_It@Berlinale’.
