I remember social media in its early stages. MySpace built to represent me, myself and I to be enjoyed and shared with close friends and family. That was 20 years ago… the times of simply sharing your interests with the world have gone away. Suddenly there is so much pressure. We follow influencers instead of friends, we seek to reinvent instead of originate. Instead of expressing ourselves, we are altering ourselves to fit a form and fashion that has been deemed “worthy” by others outside of ourselves. In seeking to belong, we have been alienated. In hoping to stand out, we have begun to fade away. #BeingMyTrueAunthenticSelf is a story about blurring the lines between reality and desire, and falling into a cycle of self destruction. We recognize it, yet we continue to spin out of control.
