Behind the Camera & Facing Retirement

in April, 2020, the Corona virus is spreading around New York, causing my senior father (Warren) to finally consider retirement as an accomplished camera operator due to health concerns and a shortage of work. I sit him down for an interview in his office as we get to know him more and learn more from the grizzled independent contractor.

Director Statement

I originally was going to have my "official" directorial debut be a short exterior film, however because of the Corona virus pandemic, I didn't want a crew or I to risk sickness. Therefore I made a personal documentary about my father, someone who I look up to.

Warren Kishner is also deeply effected by this pandemic as I am, to the point where he is considering retirement after over forty years as a camera operator. I decided to sit my father down for an interview, as I seek for insightful tips for those entering the television media industry today.

I was hoping for an expressionistic, yet naturalistic style for this documentary.

The production budget for this film was $80.00!

Shot with my Samsung Galaxy S6 and my Canon 7D Mark II.

Edited on Adobe Premiere Pro.
