Behind The Scenes - Senior Thesis Films
Four years after beginning their filmmaking journey by enrolling into the University of Colorado Denver’s Film & Television production program, students Jonathan Hornton, Christopher Gonzales, Margaret McClelland, and Will Cohn guide us through the difficulties, shortcomings, and triumphs that make-up the magic of filmmaking. As we navigate through a buildup of accumulated knowledge with our subjects through their unique experiences in creating student productions, we are quickly thrust into the chaotic world of their filmmaking endeavors. They narrate what makes film so exceptionally difficult, but also rewarding enough for them to pursue. As struggles arise, we will learn what separates a UCD student film from all others, while learning what makes the process worth chasing. As our journey through the trek of student filmmaking displays the students persevering, we will learn the joys and celebrations that come with finalizing the filmmaking process, and what has made UCD both valuable and crucial to the success of new filmmakers about to enter the industry.

Oliver Wilkins is a student seeking his Bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Colorado Denver, with an emphasis on Film & Television. Oliver has amassed a wide audience of over 7 million across his social-media-based filmmaking and has worked with clients such as the NFL and Sony Pictures.
This film doesn't just capture the student-filmmaking process, it captures the essence of being a student filmmaker itself. I spent many hours interviewing and shooting students in their filmmaking element to curate a reflection of my own personal journey as a student filmmaker, and how challenging yet rewarding the process can truly be.
