Lilli Corrias-Smith is a newly emerging creator with a love of stories that remind us of hope. She works primarily as a writer and director, and within camera department on other projects. In 2021, Lilli completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Screen Media Production with Distinction, refining her skills under the Deans Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship at Griffith Film School. She has also been learning from industry professionals while being employed in production, casting and camera assistant roles since 2019.
Lilli aims to empower her audiences through unique characters who learn resilience in personal, emotive stories; often set against a backdrop of a cause worth knowing. She is passionate about exploring impact distribution for stories with varied, honest representations of women, the LGBTIQ+ community and amplifying voices from perspectives outside of her own. Looking to the future, Lilli is excited to collaborate with other writers and filmmakers to refine her work within comedy and drama, as well as exploring the opportunities other genres present. She cannot wait to keep learning and creating.
SHORT:
'Before We're Gone' speaks to the imperfect ways we try to ‘fix’ our internal and external worlds, literally & figuratively. Home is a place for family, and like with family, our relationship with nature is one that grows and adapts overtime and requires effort to sustain. This is a film that seeks to instil hope for rediscovering value in our environment, in our relationships and in ourselves before we’re gone.
LONG:
Too often, we only learn to value something once it is gone.
Before We’re Gone was created as a response to this universal experience of loss, aiming to instil foresight instead. It was important as a call to action then to remind audiences of their own power, to tell this story of a young girl from a fractured family learning to understand and grow her future.
The film speaks to the imperfect ways we try to ‘fix’ our internal and external worlds, literally & figuratively. As characters change, they cross boundaries between suburban, urban and natural areas, led by young Nessa’s campaigns to save the planet, her friendship with older character Sofia at the local Wallum Heathland and her eventual return home.
Home is a place for family, and like with family, our relationship with nature is one that grows and adapts overtime and requires effort to sustain. This is a film that seeks to instil hope for rediscovering value in our environment, in our relationships and in ourselves before we’re gone.
