Beats in a jungle
The story is inspired by the effects of Lord’s resistance Army abductions that saw many young lives lost, dreams shattered, youths molested and families separated.
The film is about a young girl (ADONG) who is dedicated and determined to make her life worthwhile through her dance. She is a well grounded young girl growing to become a dancer and is dedicated to achieving her dream. She meets Mwaine a young man from the other side of her customs and tribe. Despite their different background they fall in love and plan a future together.
However, a once childhood meeting with a now ruthless rebel leader (AKON) follows her paths and is aimed at bringing Adong to his line of captive wives. Her success is seen as a means to uplift his existence and a way to execute his obsession and lunacy
Set in North and western Uganda the film explores themes of love, hate, betrayal, victimization, destruction and the challenges of growing up in a social conflict zone.

A graduate Teacher of English and literature; Hons Degree in English major, Ms Kay has worked with secondary schools delivering drama activities to young talented youth and teaching Literature before she enrolled to study video production and script writing.
From the early years in primary (junior) school, Kay was a teen actor in community groups. In Secondary school, Kay continued her participation in drama clubs presenting plays and songs for leisure and competitions. At a later stage, Kay formed an acting group with elder brother that halted after the his death As time passed, the artistic vision grew more as she participated in different private projects with the other artists and Ugandan producers.
Impressively Kay has blended her community work as a Human Rights Defender and Activist for the marginalised groups to understand social dilemmas that reflect greatly in most of my stories.
Beats in a jungle is her first feature film after a blend of two short stories.
I have dedicated my effort and personal savings to make this film. Although still low budget, the story is highly inspired by real life experiences. A thought into abductions and a hell lot of bad experiences during this captivity. Having listen to some youth victims of war making beats in a jungle had a mixture of feelings. I hope you will enjoy this humble beginning .
