Director Biography - Bianca Green

Bianca was born and raised in Miami, Florida but holds roots from one of the greatest islands in the Caribbean – Jamaica. She has a passion for film, entertainment, and writing. During her time at the University of Central Florida she followed her pursuits and produced works aligned with these passions. Upon graduation, she made a few stops in the media and communications realm. Then continued her journey in the film industry. Bianca lives by her curiosity which allows her to keep a sharp mind and attune to the world.

Beads, Braids & Barrettes explores Black hairstyles and accessories from girlhood to adulthood and its impact on self-image, confidence, and identity as Black women and girls maneuver through the world. This documentary aims to acknowledge the power in hair beauty but also question the effect it can have on self-esteem and why.

The film is predominantly shot throughout locations in Miami and other cities in South Florida. It features a variety of people and businesses that are on the cornerstone of this conversation. Please join us on this journey of truth, discovery, and inner freedom which leads to complete liberation of self.
