Bature: Five months in Kano

“Bature: Five months in Kano” documents the life in northern Nigeria. The chronologically arranged POV view of a 2000s camcorder, only explains what the European protagonist (Bature) understands at the time. Always following the gaze of the stranger, the camera films everything that appears interesting during the different phases of the journey. In this sense, the film not only documents life in the Hausa culture, but also shows the extent to which the view of the foreign develops over a longer period of time. The result is a subjective chronicle of a journey into the unknown, which, like life itself, gains meaning through the banalities of everyday life.
