Barberism

Abby, a young hairstylist, works at Barberism, a hair salon where the main attraction is to get zipped up in a body bag and have tattooed and pierced stylists hack away at you with butcher knives, saws, and hedge clippers.

One day two teenage boys, Jake and Tony, come in for haircuts. They immediately begin harassing Abby and making advances at her. She asks her boss, Sammi, for support but Sammi says that they need the money and forces Abby to cut their hair anyway.

The two boys make so much trouble for Abby that, when she eventually snaps, ears and limbs are lost and lives are threatened.

Director Statement

My favorite part of filmmaking is collaboration, how it brings people from all walks of life together with a common goal. As a writer and director I aim to make films in which the characters take a step forward in life. I love films that blend genres, such as action and comedy, or science fiction and film noir. I got the idea for my most recent short film "Barberism" at a barber shop in Spain. I asked the barber if he gave shaves with a straight razor and he sarcastically responded "No, here we cut off your head."
