Balkan Rivers Tour 4 | Action for Wild Rivers
Balkan River Defence (BRD) is a group of friends, kayakers, artists and activists working with locals throughout the Balkans to protect the last wild rivers of Europe from hydroelectric dams. Each year they hit the road with kayaks, cameras and creativity, to travel the Balkans to directly support locals fighting to save their rivers. Using adventure sports, science, philosophy and peaceful defiance, BRT is exposing unsanctioned dam construction in the Balkans and simultaneously promoting the preservation of intact aquatic ecosystems through tourism and adventure sports.
During the 4th Balkan Rivers Tour in 2019, the crew visited Romania’s Basca Mare River in the spring, Slovenia’s Soča River in the summer and Bulgaria’s Struma River in the fall. Get a taste for the adventure and activism in these three short films and experience how BRT turns nature conservation into rock ‘n’ roll!
