"Balcony"
Šiauliai Art Gallery as a building can be described as laconic, with a regular cube shape, overlapping spaces, and large windows, like a facade hanging on the boulevard. This building is a unique architectural object of the last century and is regarded as the best work by architect Aleksandras Petrikauskas. One of the non-traditional architectural solutions implemented in the construction of this building is an internal balcony, which offers a view of the exhibition halls. Access to the balcony is via the main staircase. During exhibition openings, a chair is usually placed on the stairs, indicating that you cannot go there. But driven by curiosity, we often break the rules and beliefs. In the beginning, no one dares to go to the balcony. When someone dares to go, everyone who wants to see the halls, art, culture, people, and their behavior from a different angle, and those who want to be alone and hide from the multitude of people start gathering. The gallery balcony becomes an excellent place for photographers, teenagers' first kisses, being alone, and thinking. The concept of this balcony for gallery visitors is conveyed by filming the opening event of the Contemporary Art and Fashion Festival, "VIRUS'29".
