Balazar - a mystical contemplation of faith
Balazar was home to Alexandrina, a bedridden woman believed to be a mystical saint who spoke to Jesus in her visions. Over half a century after her death, people continue to flock this small town in Northern Portugal in search of a spiritual connection accessed only through faith.

Vasco Monteiro veered away from a long carrear as a fiction scriptwriter and embraced the wonderful and often stranger world of documentary filmmaking.
"Balazar" is an attempt to summon the unreachable world of faith. For those who feel drawn to the mystical figure of Alexandrina, she becomes the vehicle through which their hopes and dreams are expressed. Through her they feel they can access a power that transcends them and serves as a guide to their lifes. In this documentary we try to access this inner world without judgment, opening a window to one’s inner beliefs.
