Bakster and Bird is the story of two surprising friends – a bird named Bird who has lost her song, and Bakster, a philosophical mouse who dreams of flying!
After many thwarted plans and close calls, they discover they can attain their dreams and find their true selves by helping one another. With endearing characters, intriguing contraptions, original music and a thoughtful theme, this beautiful video production engages children and adults alike.

Wendy Passmore- Godfrey, BFA, ASA, is Artistic & Founding Director of WP Puppet Theatre, established in Calgary, Mohkinstsis, Alberta, CANADA in 1991 as a charitable Not for Profit Society. She has designed, built and performed over 20 different productions and toured both locally and internationally. “Bakster and Bird” is her most recent project and represents a new working genre – film. She has facilitated or overseen development of the Society’s learning programs for children and adults, notably the award winning “VIEW from the Inside”. She curates the International Puppet Power: Festival of Ideas Conference.
Wendy believes that puppets have a special power to help diverse groups of people to better understand each other, promote equity, tolerance and provide a creative platform to express controversial and significant social issues. "Bakster and Bird" was inspired by a Ghandi quotation: "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others"
