Director Biography - Jordan Ray Allen

Jordan Ray Allen began his screenwriting journey in 2002 at the age of 17 and spent the remainder of the decade honing his craft, prematurely knocking on agency doors, and mastering the art of rejection. He fondly credits that time for thickening his creative skin and pushing him to become a better writer and reader. By 2011, cinematic volcanoes had erupted around the globe and spat out affordable DSLR cameras that could shoot 24 frames per second. Jordan caught a Canon T3i with both hands, and so began his journey as a writer-director.

He gained film festival recognition domestically and abroad for the 80s homage 'Murphy's Law: The Real-Fake Trailer', and 'Red Handed' (Allen's love letter to the film noir genre), which took home "Best Short" at the 2013 Cape Fear Independent Film Festival and "Best Actress" at the Innovative Film Festival the same year. Additionally, 'Red Handed', along with the film's cinematographer and Jordan himself, were warmly welcomed and received at the inaugural Film Noir Festival, hosted in Gisors, France.

In 2015, he would co-found and spearhead a movement called Bring Back The 4400 that aimed to revive the Emmy-nominated series "The 4400," which ended in 2007 on a season 4 cliffhanger. Fans and the stars of the cult classic sci-fi series joined forces and gave rise to an energetic campaign via social media, which came equipped with cast call-to-action/reunion content directed and edited by Jordan, along with a successful #Ask4400 Cast Q&A on Twitter, which trended #2 behind the 2015 MTV VMAs.

By the fall of 2017, he had achieved semi-finalist status after entering the one-page synopsis for a feature film called 'Melting Ice: A Tale of Cruci-Fiction' into a competition hosted by Robert Rodriguez, who was in search of filmmakers for his docuseries 'Rebel Without A Crew'.

In 2019, with COVID just around the corner, that would conclude Allen's five-year run filming and editing artistic highlight reels of national beauty conventions for L'Oréal's subsidiary, SalonCentric, which featured top industry artists and leading brands.

Today, Jordan is busy writing and developing original scripts and has an eclectic range of short-form content (fiction and non-fiction) available online. He prides himself on being a genre-bending writer-director with a distinct style that strays from the conventional. Partial evidence can be found in his dark-comedy sci-fi thriller, 'Turn Up the Volume' (A Music Film).

And as a lover of music that spans decades, Allen himself creates and releases genre-bending instrumental albums under the alias JRA on all streaming platforms. Notable works are his 2010 debut 'My Youth' and the 2020 retro-futuristic soundtrack 'The Space Between Dreams and Reality', which is a speed-of-light journey through a parallel universe decorated in Cedric Gibbons Art Deco.
