Nike X Sacai - 3D Passion Project

Overview

For our Nike X Sacai passion project, we set out to challenge the boundaries of 3D production by recreating an authentic live-action shoot entirely in 3D, complete with simulated behind-the-scenes (BTS) moments. The aim was to spotlight the creative fusion of two iconic Nike designs—LDV and Waffle Racer—into a singular hybrid sneaker while blurring the lines between the virtual and real worlds.

Creative Approach

To echo the duality of the Nike X Sacai collaboration, we blended 2D and 3D motion graphics, crafting a visual narrative that mirrored the sneaker's design philosophy. The film opens with a striking, detailed shot of the shoe before transporting viewers into a meticulously designed 3D production set, featuring simulated crew members and a fully immersive environment. As the narrative unfolds, we take the audience through dynamic transitions between the BTS of a live-action-style shoot and high-polished product visuals, creating a fluid interplay between process and outcome. The BTS sequences, entirely modelled in 3D, show crew members adjusting lighting, repositioning equipment, and fine-tuning shot compositions, adding layers of authenticity to the workflow. We believe this pipeline seamlessly bridges the gap between creative freedom and production, enabling a smooth transition from innovative concepts to flawless execution.

Innovation

This project celebrates both the intricate craftsmanship of hybrid sneaker design and the artistry of modern motion design. By replicating a real-world commercial shoot in 3D, we explored new possibilities by pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with 3D production.
