Kasper Bisgaard Laursen was born in Denmark, 1993. He holds a bachelor in Dramaturgy from Aarhus University and Freie University Berlin. From 2019-21 he was a part of the writer collective GROW at Blaagaard Teater in Copenhagen. His texts have been performed on several stages in Copenhagen. For his play ‘Brunch’ he received jury praise in the playwriting competition ‘Dramatisk Debut’.
As an assistant, he has worked with several theatre directors, such as Tue Biering and Lilja Rupprecht. As of 2023 he is assistant director at Deutsches Theater Berlin.
With the movie ‘Brunch’ we wanted to create an alternative to the all so familiar story; a couple visits another in their home and some obstacle occur, which in the end splits them up. The obstacles are usually typical to white people of the bourgeoisie class. We asked ourselves the question: what actually separates the lives of queer and straight people? The question of children. And so our wish was to create a story in the usual setting, but one that was able to accommodate a queer narrative.
