Tamao, the daughter of a noble family who was raised as a man for the sake of her family precepts. Her mother was cold to Tamao, who tried to be brave, and her tutor, Koshiro, who was 10 years older than her, was the only friend who could open her heart. However, she finds out her true gender when she has her first period, and she can't help but feel embarrassed about Koshiro, whom she believed in...
Based on Shugoro Yamamoto's original novel "Kikuchiyosho", a heartrending yet gorgeous full-length pure love romance set in Kyoto in the early Meiji era.
A 16-year-old newcomer actress, Ankai Matsumoto, challenges Tamao, who is neither a man nor a woman, and is struggling in her gender gap. Regardless of the historical drama, it is also worth noting that all the filming was done in the beautiful nature and existing historical buildings of Kameoka, Kyoto, without a studio shoot.
