BREAKDOWN
In this time of a pandemic, a lot of people were affected and that includes our creative athletes in the Philippines. This is why it is essential to make a mini documentary that breaks down how creative athletes train themselves to become better dancers and unfolds the truth of their struggles during this pandemic. In this documentary, it will show their perseverance and passion in performing to inspire themselves and their audiences as well on social media. In the documentary, we will breakdown the process of their training and we will be interviewing their thoughts and experiences. Breaking down the process of the training will show how creative athletes are committed with their talent and passion in dancing that could inspire other aspiring teens to dance and to have basic knowledge in dancing, especially that dancing is a hot topic right now on Tiktok.

Andre Punzalan is a 22-year-old multimedia artist in Manila who is currently an art student in iACADEMY (Art school). She has been taking Multimedia arts since 2016 for senior high school and currently for college. She is an abstract-fine artist who sold eight paintings around the metro. She is also a professional Hip-hop dance student for almost three years and has competed in two dance competitions. She is also the Dance President for RHYTHM (dance organization in iACADEMY) for two school years. She has been a student leader for years, and she is currently the student commissioner for the school year, 2021-2022. The second experimental short film she made, which is, "Ilusyonada" and that won a Gender Sensitivity Award from Ground Glass Film Festival 2021, and it was her first time joining a film festival, another fun fact for Andre, She was a Starbucks barista in the Philippines!
As a professional dance student, I am thrilled to make a mini documentary on how we, as dancers, are very determined of our passion even though it is an expensive taste to acquire. The determination, passion, and endurance is what brings us together in this craft especially during the pandemic when we are all sequestered in our houses. Not everybody had the passion to continue with dancing with the struggles present but one thing’s for sure, dancing will still be a way of life for me.
This documentary is very personal to me for the reason that I know that a lot of our creative athletes lost their jobs and students during this pandemic. And especially in the dance industry, we cannot practice our craft and be able to use it to generate profit. This documentary is a testament as to how dance influenced not just my life but the life of others using it as a coping mechanism, channel to release their emotions, and just for entertainment.
We are one with the dancers struggling during this pandemic. And through this documentary, I will be able to shed a light on what it is to become a dancer.
