Lima Lipa is an emerging filmmaker based in Queens, New York, with a background in fashion photography. She began her career collaborating with brands to create artist-led projects and directing narrative-driven fashion videos. Her passion for storytelling and visual media led her to study at The New School’s Media Studies program and, currently, at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, where she is pursuing her master’s degree in filmmaking.
Lima is dedicated to crafting narratives that explore the complexity of women’s lives, delving into themes of identity, resilience, and self-expression. Her films combine bold visual aesthetics with intimate storytelling, reflecting her deep interest in character-driven cinema.
As a director, I’m drawn to everyday stories—moments we might encounter in daily life. It’s important for me to portray women’s experiences in relationships through the lens of my own understanding of female gender socialization. In my work, gestures, restrained emotions, and unspoken tensions take center stage, revealing the weight of societal expectations and personal desires. My goal is to create a space where vulnerability and strength coexist, reflecting the universal yet deeply personal complexities of my characters’ experiences.
