Director Statement

Set during a violent uprising in the Peruvian Andes in 1948, BLANCA is an English language, action-adventure drama. I wrote and directed it inspired by two greatly influential characters in my life: my grandmother (Señora Pepa) and her employee, Blanca, who raised my father since the age of two and later also raised me.

Forever they were just Blanca and Pepa, inseparable and thick as thieves. As an adult I wondered: How is it that two people from such opposite cultures, generations, geography, and social status became so inseparable - not romantically, but tight as family.

The origin of that bond is the ordeal both went through on the day this short film begins. The edge-of-your-seat adventure thrusts these two women from opposing extremes of society into a partnership for their own survival along a cliff ledge. It sparks a friendship that lasts sixty years.

The screenplay has won multiple awards including Page Awards finalist.

I am delighted to have finally finished Blanca and honored to present it to the world.

Thank you for taking the time to review my short film.
