BIRTH
Visuals accompany the poem BIRTH by Lili Bita, based on the myth of Cybele. The partial text follows:
My womb traverses the centuries.
The awesome spells of Time.
Where there is no beginning
Only darkness, silence, chaos.
The only light that exists is the womb.
I am the beginning.
My womb prepares the sacred rituals of birth.
I am a woman.
Not fragile
No daughter of man.
Zeus' brow was not my cradle.
Rivers and oceans recoil at my approach.
My breath is the light that polishes the stars.
I calm the terrors of the firmament.
I am the eternal flame, the source.
I am a woman.
My womb prepares the sacred rituals of birth.
My mother is the earth.
Priestess and midwife.
I am the first woman.
In the beginning was desire.
Union with the self, union with the other.
The freedom and enslavement of consummation.
Mother Earth, come to me now.
I am ready....
