BHAWNA

This short film is basically influenced by the incident of gang rape of a 19 years old girl in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The girl child is gangraped in broad daylight by some people and she is cremated without informing her family members. Such an incident reflects the culmination of the cruelty of our society.
This incident which crossed the heart of my life, shaken my emotions deep inside. For a long time, there was a conflict in my mind that will women ever got respect and protection in our society? Will men ever change their attitudes towards women? Or women have to stand up to protect their existence.
It was due to this conflict that I thought of making this short film and only 8 years old girl was selected as the main character of the film, who is not an actor. She faced the camera for the very first time. It was difficult for me to show her such a feeling. This incident hurt my spirit very much, because of this, the film is named “BHAWNA” and the character was also named “Bhawna” and the only dialogue in the entire film is “Bhawna”. Therefore, this film mainly focuses on ‘emotion’ which means in Hindi is “Bhawna”.
Like this news created a stir in my mind and brain. Similarly, the film starts to create disturbance in the water and for the first time the title “BHAWNA” appears as the title of the film.
