Brooklyn Exchange - Home of Work in Progress...

"Did you have a great idea for a film, but now don't have the resources to finish it? Our panel of industry professionals at Brooklyn Exchange want to hear your pitch!"

"The Brooklyn Exchange pitch competition is in person on May 31 in Brooklyn and will be presented in front of an audience and a panel of jurors who will provide live feedback on your project. All selected pitch projects will be awarded a festival badge."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Born in 2012, Brooklyn Exchange was created by Brooklyn Film Festival to connect Brooklyn filmmakers with each other and the larger New York film community. In our relatively short history, Exchange projects have already gone on to premiere here at the Brooklyn Film Festival as well as HotDocs and SXSW. We’re now looking for a few Works in Progress out of which we will select the most promising. The best of all will win a prize worth between $3,000 and $5,000 that can be used for the post production of the submitted film.

The 2025 Brooklyn Exchange, an event organized by Brooklyn Film Festival, will be staged on May 31. The show consists of numerous unfinished projects (animation, live-action films and documentaries) looking for support to bring the film to completion. Selected films will be listed on the following BFF website page: https://www.brooklynfilmfestival.org/exchange. on June 8, during the BFF Award Ceremony, the winner will be announced.

Brooklyn Exchange is an initiative of Brooklyn Film Festival, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

The only Brooklyn Exchange award the fest gives away is the "Best of Brooklyn Exchange"

The prize(s) consists on film-production and or post-production services and
an Award Certificate from the Brooklyn Film Festival.
Other prizes TBA.

On May 31, from 10am-1pm we will show up to 10 minutes of each film selected and the filmmakers will have the possibility to pitch their film to our professional panel that at the end will vote for the best project.

  • I had a great time participating in his festival! The curators and programmers did such a good job of staying in communication and inviting creators to participate in all aspects of the festival, including doing Q&As, and social media outreach. I love that the festival had a virtual aspect too which allowed for further participation. My film was in KidsFilmFest and I really love how the programmers made a huge effort to involve families and promote filmmaking among young creators. To me, that is what the art is all about!

  • This was such a wonderful festival! I was thrilled to have my short "Cool for You" shown to Brooklyn audiences. They made all the filmmakers feel so appreciated and valued - included in so many opportunities to speak about our film (virtual Q&A, in-person Q&A, plug Live IG interview). Would love to bring future projects to this festival. I feel so honored that my short was shown as part of the KidsFilmFest program.

We want to thank KidsFilmFest for including our film, Queen Marlene's Toy Museum and Friends in the festival. We enjoyed getting a chance to meet their staff and work with their team, who worked tirelessly to make the festival a success. We feel fortunate that our film was selected and wish to thank KidsFilmFest for such a great experience.
