Experiencing Interruptions?

By Any Other Name

By Any Other Name reflects on one of the most infamous criminal cases in the UK, that of the Moors Murders. Ian Brady and Myra Hindley murdered at least five children in a two year period, burying four of the bodies on the bleak landscape of Saddleworth Moor near Manchester. It was a case that affected all who were involved, from the Police who initially investigated to the journalists who looked into the case for years afterwards, and still do to this day. The film follows two of those journalists who investigated the case for two years full time in the 1980s. They reflect on the trauma that affected so many, recount their own thoughts on the case, and the way in which it affected their own lives.

Director Statement

Whilst this film was a graduation piece for university, it ended up being very personal and quite an emotional journey for myself and those involved with the production. Even though my film is not directly about the story of the Moors murders, it is a case that still resonates with many in the United Kingdom and I wanted to be as respectful as possible in the final film. I have plans to extend this film beyond the twenty minutes that my university required as there were many stories from contributors that I could not include.
