BANGSAWAN
Alina, a theatre student shrouded by inner trauma and insecurity, struggles in her Bangsawan production. She refuses to seek help from her grandmother, a theatre veteran, versed in the ways of Bangsawan. Because of this, it puts tension on her relationships with her cast mates and her best friend.
Whilst this happens, Alina's grandmother soon discovers that her old age has finally caught up to her. Her body no longer as strong as it used to be and she progressively gets weaker, but decides not to tell Alina.

My name is Naqib Putra Zalman, a 20 year old film student. As a developing filmmaker, I am passionate and focused on my craft especially in directing and screenwriting. I enjoy the creative and collaborative nature of filmmaking. I believe the medium of cinema to be the most accessible art form that can touch the heart of humanity.
Bangsawan is a malay artform which I am truly inspired from. It all started when I watched one for the first time in real life back in 2019. It's simply beautiful & the poet whom this film was based off upon is chinese & it's amazing that she is able to perform in another language that isn't her mother tongue.
