Autonomous
A shockingly visceral and evocative film about a young man’s attempt to reinvent a world from first principles in the face of modern technology, rampant Globalisation and the myth of relentless human progress. Leaving the city behind, he is determined to forge a new life alone in a post-industrial landscape. He embarks upon a lone mission to rediscover the 'human animal' from first principles, living a primitive existence, against a background of a community that has exchanged the unreliable grace of God for the almighty power of science. Amidst the joys and hardships he experiences, he is relentlessly drawn back to a quest for meaning and relevance that he ultimately realises does not and can not exist.
