Founded in 1992 as an annual, single night's screening in New York of the best of recent short films from Down Under, AUSTRALIAN SHORT FILM TODAY is now an international traveling roadshow.
We screen our OZShorts program of narrative short films (drama, comedy and animation) in the United States in New York, Boston, Austin and Houston, and in Europe in London, Paris, St. Tropez and Berlin.
We launched OZDocs, a documentary short film program, in 2017.
AUSTRALIAN SHORT FILM TODAY has shown the early work of several Australian short film makers who have gone on to become feature film makers for the international audience. They include Robert Luketic (LEGALLY BLONDE, 21, THE UGLY TRUTH and KILLERS), Gregor Jordan (BUFFALO SOLDIERS, NED KELLY) Emma Kate Croghan (LOVE AND OTHER CATASTROPHES), Christina Andreef (SOFT FRUIT), Peter Duncan (CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION), Andrew Lancaster (ACCIDENTS HAPPEN), and Academy Award winning animator Adam Elliot (HARVIE KRUMPET).
AUSTRALIAN SHORT FILM TODAY is a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing the talents of Australian filmmakers. It is the short film wing of Australian International Screen Forum.
We poll the audience at each screening to determine the Audience Award and Runner-Up at that location
