Director Statement

Aurora is a short experimental horror film inspired by Surrealism. Key themes are the connection of Eros and Death Drive in the form of sexual violence and sadomasochism; the dialectic of nature and civilization; oppression as experienced in a capitalist society, and as a woman in a patriarchal society.
The film does not follow a coherent narrative, but shows an interplay of moments of oppression and empowerment, fear and triumph. The visual language reflects the dream setting of the film by being ecstatic, associative and grotesque
