Welcome to the Athens Indie Film Festival, where the spirit of democracy meets the magic of cinema! Inspired by the rich tapestry of Athens' storied history and its democratic legacy, our festival invites filmmakers from around the world to share their stories on our virtual stage. Just as Athens stood as a beacon of freedom and expression in ancient times, our festival embraces the diversity of voices and perspectives in contemporary filmmaking. Whether it's a short film bursting with creativity or a feature-length masterpiece that captivates audiences, we celebrate the power of storytelling to inspire, provoke, and unite. This is an online event. Join us online as we honor the timeless values of democracy and the enduring artistry of cinema at the Athens Indie Film Festival.

In the spirit of Athenian democracy, our panel of judges comprises esteemed filmmakers and industry professionals hailing from four diverse nations. This multicultural ensemble not only enriches our festival but also empowers it to flourish amidst the indie festival landscape.
Drawing upon their vast expertise in the art of filmmaking, our judges offer filmmakers a unique opportunity to have their works evaluated by a team with a breadth of cultural perspectives.
We firmly believe that every filmmaker deserves an equal chance to shine, and thus, each entry has the potential to emerge victorious in its respective category. This commitment to excellence and equity embodies the Athenian spirit of honoring talent and fostering creativity within the cinematic community

  • I feel humbled and grateful to receive this recognition. Korea has changed so much—from the poverty of my childhood to the global country it is today. When I look back, I do not only remember struggle; I remember people who held each other up. This film is my way of saying: those small acts of love mattered, and they still matter. Thank you for allowing this message to travel beyond borders.
