Created in 2017, as a joint project of The 3% Movement and the Athena Film Festival, the Athena Advertising Awards recognize creative advertising that depicts strong, bold women from all walks of life; we recognize marketing messages infused with ambition, courage, resilience, and moxie. Submissions via FilmFreeway open June 17, 2019 and close on September 20, 2019.

Organizations must create a FilmFreeway profile in order to submit to the Athena Ad Awards. When creating the profile, please note that the only required fields are Project Name and Contact Information (as indicated by the asterisk). You may leave all other information blank. Once you create your profile, you will be able to submit your ad and upload relevant information about your campaign. Award Categories:


All moving image branded content made for television, cinema, online, mobile, outdoor and in-store under five (5) minutes in length.


Activations and promotions that utilize physical engagement to tell a brand story.


Digital media that is connected to a user or gives the user the ability to interact through technology including apps, banners ads, games, microsites, virtual or augmented reality, or web pages

Social Marketing:

Entries use social platforms to deliver content or messages to consumers that can be shared in their social networks or marketing efforts and brand communications that garner media coverage or impact brand or organizational perception.


Work appearing in newspapers, magazines, or such printed media as posters, transit ads or billboards.

Integrated Campaigns:

Minimum of three advertisements that utilize differing media types such as film, audio, print, digital/mobile, social marketing, etc

The Awards presentation will be on Nov. 8, 2019, Day 2 of the 3% Movement Conference in Chicago before an audience of 1000 male and female creative leaders. The award presentations and the winning entries will also be showcased at the Athena Film Festival, Feb. 27- March 1, 2020, at Barnard College in New York.

Eligibility for all categories:
The Athena Ad Awards competition is open to all global brands and advertising agencies that have developed creative campaigns since January 1, 2018. The work must be created in English or be submitted with English subtitles.

Each entry must be viewable online. You will be asked to submit a URL during the submission process. Submissions in the Print category must be in PDF or image file (.png or .jpeg) format.
