Asylum
Desperate to make an impression during her second week at the home office Jamilah, struggles to draw out the story behind Emina, a young Bosnian woman’s asylum claim. When a second case headed by her colleague involving a Syrian man Qamar brings out the inconsistencies of Emina's case, Jamilah goes on a hunt to search for the missing evidence that will help determine if they are telling the truth.

Pratyusha was born in Madras, India. She worked in documentary, television and advertising in Mumbai for over six years before moving to the UK. She graduated with an MA in Filmmaking (Direction) from the London Film School in March 2013.
Born to parents from very different communities in India, Pratyusha has always been fascinated by questions of identity, gender, class and religion- themes that dominate her films. Her focus has been on developing strong, honest characters and tracing their journey within a realistic, yet poetic style.
Pratyusha last short film ‘Oysters’ commissioned by Film London and the BFI NET.work was selected for the East End Film Festival and the Underwire Film Festival in 2017.
Her previous short ‘Safar’ has travelled extensively to festivals having won the audience award for Best Short film at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles as well as Stuttgart in 2015.
Pratyusha has been selected for the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew Talent Development program 2018. She is currently in post-production for her next short ASYLUM commissioned by the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and has been selected for DIRECTOR’S UK Inspire mentorship program in 2019.
Based in London she is currently developing a feature length film as a writer/director that is set in India. When she isn’t directing she works as a freelance 1st AD on features , shorts and TV drama.
