Asteroid
While a ferocious intergalactic battle rages between two ships, dashing young space raider Morgan boards the enemy ship and tries to recover a recording from a former crew member, who takes it with him and escapes to earth in a shuttle craft.
The crew member lands at a failing spaceport operated by 20-ish Jill and her mother. When he unexpectedly dies, Jill finds the recording device. Morgan and his space raider buddies invade the spaceport at night, but when they approach, Jill and her mother run off. Morgan's group pursues the two women, who escape to the house of their scientist neighbor. They discover that the recording is a map to a fortune of stolen energy crystals buried on a faraway asteroid.
Jill and the scientist meet with the victim of the robbery, an isolated and eccentric space-age tycoon. He offers to finance an expedition to find the crystals, and if they're successful, he promises to split the treasure with them. The mother remains at the spaceport, while Jill and the scientist assemble a crew. They don't recognize Morgan, who signs on for the dangerous mission and brings a bunch of his friends along to help man the ship.
At first, Jill is smitten with Morgan. But during the voyage, she overhears that Morgan was on the ship that stole the crystals, and his space raider captain secretly buried them somewhere on the asteroid before the ship sped away. She learns about Morgan's plot to seize their spaceship and take the crystals.
When they land on the asteroid, Morgan's men start to eliminate some of the loyal crewmen. Jill takes off and runs into a marooned oddball, who was also on the ship that hijacked the crystals. When he was on another spacecraft, he convinced the crew to stop and look for the treasure.
When they couldn't find it, the angry men marooned him on the asteroid. Living isolated in a cave for years drove him half-crazy, but he lets Jill, the scientist, their ship captain and others use the cave as shelter to battle Morgan's men.
When violent earthquakes begin, the scientist discovers the asteroid is unstable and could blast apart any minute.
Jill gets captured by the raiders, and when Morgan wavers in his loyalty because of his affection for Jill, his rival takes over as leader. Morgan manages to escape with Jill. The remaining space raiders get hold of the map and dig furiously for the treasure, but it's not there. They ignore the earthquakes which grow stronger and continue to dig, while their leader chases after Morgan.
Morgan battles his rival, who falls to his death in a deep crevice opened up by the earthquakes.
The asteroid is about to explode, when Morgan and Jill join the scientist and the others in the cave. They find that the half-witted marooned space raider had already dug up the treasure years ago and hid it in his cave. The heroes recover the crystals and escape, just before the asteroid blows itself into oblivion.
Jill and Morgan wind up together and promise to modernize the struggling spaceport when the voyage is over. With the fortune onboard, their ship speeds back to earth with its happy passengers.
